Following the events of that movie, Batman and Wonder Woman are now travelling the globe to assemble a team to thwart a terrible foe, Steppenwolf. Steppenwolf is trying to find three special boxes that will do something very powerful and awful and is heading to Earth to track them down.
Aside from Batman, Wonder Woman and at some point Superman, the team, the Justice League of the title, includes The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).
Footage shown at Comic-Con showed a lighter tone than Batman v Superman, with The Flash providing gawky, awkward comedy, Aquaman butting heads with Batman, and Cyborg… well, not doing much in the bits shown. Like BvS, it’s being directed by Zack Snyder. Other characters will include J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Aquaman’s love interest, and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, an adviser to Aquaman.
The film was initially known as Justice League: Part One, but Snyder has since said this is a standalone story, although a sequel is still listed for 2019.
