We’re pleased to announce the date for the most anticipated event of the year and the best in Africa. HackJos, nhubs’ flagship challenge-driven Hackathon Jos 2016 and tech Conference. Hackjos had its first run in 2015; owned and promoted by Nignux Technologies Ltd owners of nHub, premier innovation centre in the north of the country. The 2016 edition is running in collaboration with Qitech Technologies in partnership with Knowhow Media International, publishers of IT Edge News.Com. Scheduled for the 1st – 4th November.
Hackjos is a challenge-driven hackathon that brings together techy-savvy citizens, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, students, programmers and developers across Nigeria under one roof for 48 hours to get involved and showcase their ingenuity and talents in the pursuit of creating compelling solutions that cut across mobile, desktop, web and hardware (embedded systems) that will help solve problems relevant to the various sectors of the Nigerian economy. Teams will be afforded an opportunity to pitch their completed apps at the end of the Hackathon for a chance to win prizes. Votes will be taken by the meeting’s audience, and the most innovative apps will win various prizes.

Apart from the Plateau State Government and NITDA, HackJos is also supported by new frontier technology companies and innovation hubs including Hotels.ng, Smartweb, and Konga, Enspire Incubator, iDEA Hub, Gigalayer, Andela, and the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) among others.
Theme: “How ready is Nigeria for the internet of things (IoT)”.
Speaking on the event, Dr Vincent Olatunji the Acting Director General of the NITDA said
“We are glad to be supporting HackJos and believe Nigeria’s future rests on the resourcefulness of its young people. As part of our mandate to promote software skills and build indigenous capacity in IT, we consider HackJos a strategic window to build confidence in young people, identify with their budding skill set and provide them with the required impetus to thrive.”
About 30 teams consisting of a minimum of three developers/ ‘hackathoners’ 10 judges, 10 tech support team and over 300 live audience and spectators will be housed for four days in a marathon of wit, entrepreneurship and mental fitness to develop apps-solutions under the framework of Nigeria’s readiness for IoT and sector-by- sector challenges in Nigeria’s economic space.
