Telecommunication company, Etisalat, and Olamide Adedeji, indigenous rapper, have ended their partnership.

Olamide, CEO of YBNL, has been a brand ambassador of the telecommunications company for the past three years. Etisalat expressed gratitude to the rapper in an Instagram post on Monday.

“Thank you for an amazing 3 years,” Etisalat said in a social media post. “It’s been 3 fulfilling years of working with the amazing Olamide Badoo. All of us at Etisalat wish you the best in your future endeavors.” The YBNL boss responded by thanking Etisalat for “believing” in him and “helping him grow”.  He said: “God bless my @etisalatnigeria family for the love and support all through the years. Thanks for believing in me and helping me grow.”

The ‘Shakitibobo’ hitmaker last year renewed his ambassadorship contract Etisalat. An inside source, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed to TheCable Lifestyle that the rapper was dropped by Etisalat due to financial constraints.

The insider noted that Olamide was the highest paid celebrity among Etisalat’s brand ambassadors, earning way more than Ice Prince, Chocolate City rapper.

According to the insider, “Etisalat discontinued because of the economic recession” in the country.

Meanwhile, Alex Ikemefuna, the rapper’s manager, in a telephone conversation, said that he wasn’t kicked out nor did Etisalat refuse to renew his contract.

He maintained that Olamide chose not to renew, yet failed to divulge whether or not the rapper will be moving to another telecommunication company.
