I took the liberty to play around it a little, and this is the outcome. Continue reading

Nigerian Womenswear fashion label Meena led by Uju Offiah presents its Spring Summer 2016 collection titled ‘Ochiagha’ (translation – Neoretic Warriors).
With inspiration drawn from the past and present. Their first venture into custom-made prints was influenced by Nsibidi, (a pre-colonial means of communication and storytelling using ideographic and logographic symbols and clusters of said symbols, which existed among the Igbos in the south eastern part of Nigeria), and modern construction.
The collection was done in mostly neutral tones with hand embroidered Nsibidi details, woven strips and layering of fabric in geometric shapes which calls to mind origami are the motifs of the chic collection.
