British-born Nigerian gay singer MNEK covers Attitude magazine, talks coming out to his parents

British-born Nigerian singer and songwriter MNEK landed one of the six coveted special award edition covers of Attitude magazine to celebrate 2016 Attitude Awards. The 21-year-old Grammy-nominated talented artist, real name Uzoechi Emenike has been named as Attitude’s ‘Breakthrough Award’ winner, having written his first record for The Saturday’s at the age of 15 and contributed to Beyoncé’s earth-shattering album Lemonade.  (more…)

Gay Nigerian man shares his story: “It was difficult for me to maintain my apartment”

This week Immigration Equality and the Brooklyn Community Pride Center will launch the LGBTQ New Americans Project, featuring audio and video oral histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer immigrants living in Brooklyn and throughout New York City.  Through extended conversation, the project records the unique experiences of LGBTQ immigrants in their own words. Police Re-arrest man who named his Dog “Buhari”, to Arraign him on Monday

Joe Chinakwe The Ogun State Police Command on Friday said it had re-arrested the trader, Joe Chinakwe, who named his dog “Buhari”. According to Vanguard, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police Public Relations Officer, said that the suspect would be arraigned in court on Monday. Oyeyemi also stated that Chinakwe, who was earlier released a few days ago, was picked up again based on the Force’s belief that the suspect’s action was capable of provoking an ethno-religious crisis.
