Bill Gates To Become World’s First Trillionaire

According to a research firm, Oxfam International (An international network of organizations collectively working to alleviate global poverty), the world could get its first trillionaire in the next 25 years, when Bill Gates becomes 86 years old. At the moment, he is $915.6 billion away from attaining that title, but new research suggests he’s closer than you might think. Interestingly, we had 793 billionaires worldwide in 2009, by 2016, the richest 793 people maintained net worths of $5 trillion — an annual growth of 11%. (more…)

nHub in Plateau State to host Google HashCode 2017 in Nigeria

Jos based technology hub, nHub and V8, a Lagos based co-working space are among the locations in Nigeria where Google Hash Code for 2017 will be held. Hash Code is a team-based programming competition where participants solve problems presented by Google engineers and top scoring teams win prizes. The competition will be in two rounds – online and final. The online qualification round sees teams solve a real-life challenge using their own PCs and programming language and tools of their choice. BYE Felicia! Vine Is Dead, Long Live Vine

Twitter is officially killing Vine. According to a blog post on Medium, the microblogging company will be discontinuing the massively popular short video app within the coming months. The announcement comes hot on the heels of Twitter announcing massive layoffs across the board, with plans of cutting almost nine percent of its workforce (or roughly 350 people). (more…)
