President Buhari of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria has been called many name including “King Of The North”, lol, I laugh every time I heard that one. But is he really changing Nigeria? That’s left for you to answer…
Now on Tuesday the 1st of September 2015, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice-President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, revealed that President Buhari plans to give primary school children free meals. That just makes me eager to go back to primary school again, only if they will be giving me shawamma, meat pie and ice cream, and they said Joseph was a dreamer! The keyword to note here is “plans”, so there is equal chance that it might or might not happen, welcome to Nigeria.
Osinbajo said this at the 45th Annual Accountants Conference in Abuja, speaking on the topic “Re-positioning Nigeria for Sustainable Development: From Rhetoric to Performance”, that the effects of introducing the school feeding scheme would help to create 1.14 million new jobs for Nigerians and increase food production by up to 530,000 metric tonnes per annum, as well as attract investments up to N980 Billion. This is a great idea but my only problem with it, is that what security measures will be kept in place to secure this Billion Naira investment, I live in Nigeria, that’s to say that I am very familiar with Nigerians turning two times two equals to two times two equals zero point five.
He also mentioned that Buhari economic plans includes creating innovations and fighting piracy; diversification of the economy in the areas of agriculture to achieve self-sufficiency in rice and wheat (staples) production; manufacturing; entertainment and technology. While emphasizing that;
“One of the most important interventions required in the education sector is capacity building to improve teacher quality.This programme is intended to drive teachers’ capacity development; boost basic education; attract talents to the teaching profession. Better educated population increases economic potential for productivity.”
The All Progressives Congress has made a commitment to provide one-meal-a-day for all primary school students; that would create jobs in agriculture, including poultry, catering and delivery services.”
