Today was the burial for the great St. John’s College teacher, Late Mr. Mathew Ajogbon, in Jos city Plateau State Nigeria. He is being laid to rest at his home in Kogi State. We from Awomkennth.com send our condolences to his family.
Below is a tribute from Mr. Babangida Aliyu Akawu about his beloved teacher.
To a fallen Hero:
I remember the first time I met you, the very last time too. Our discourses remain green in my memory.
Great Disciplinarian, you were never satisfied until things were done right.
Strict to a fault you found out our faults and flaws and tirelessly attempted to fix them.
A true believer in individual uniqueness, you sought always to bring out the best in your students.
Man of vigour, strength and agility, I never saw you tired nor weary. A model example of what a teacher should be, I looked up to you.
Scolding me when I went wrong and cheering me when I was right. You made an indelible mark upon me.
The many tête a têtes we held in the confines of your office, with you picking my brain on significant issues, your funny remarks about my person and how you always identified with my successes and encouraged me to strive for more were amongst the hallmarks of my school days.
Today sir, I celebrate you, I salute you and I remember you with fondest memories, I pray to God that your soul will be accepted and that our earthly loss will only be heaven’s gain.
The pain is unspeakable, reality has dealt me, personally a blow below the belt, so hard, it’s mortifying.
I have so much I wish 2 say to u…So much to do, but God knows best…you have lived well, so rest well…
For M.A Ajogbon
Unforgettable Hero, Mentor, Father.
