This is a win for #teamnatural! 23 year-old model Maria Borges walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on her own terms, sans wigs, weaves or any form of extension.
The Angolan model rocking her afro haircut made a powerful beauty statement at the recent VSF show – a show that among other things is known for lots and lots of flowing long hair.
She had reportedly told her agent to request she walk the show with her natural hair and was both surprised and giddy with excitement when organizers of the show agreed to her terms.
Maria, who had walked the show twice before, made her appearance this year without the weaves she wore on the previous year, letting the whole world know that beauty comes in different forms.
An elated Maria took to her Instagram after the show and posted a picture of her from the show and said, “AFRICA, this one is for you! I LOVE YOU. Chère Afrique bien aimée…
