She is the winner of the ScientificAmerican Science in Action Award and winner of the Voter’s Choice Award for the GoogleScience Fair 2013. Wanting to reduce pollution in her home city of Istanbul, Elif manufactured a new environmentally-friendly bio-plastic that uses banana peels – an organic material – instead of traditional petroleum sources. These are the countries with the best Internet connections in the world

If the Internet is important to you, you may need to reconsider where you live based on the results of a new report from the International Telecommunication Union, which has revealed the countries with the best Internet connections in the world. According to the study, which took into account Internet speed and the percentage of people who have access to a connection, we all need to move to South Korea if we want to be better connected – it just topped the list for the second time in a row. Other developed countries, however, didn’t fare as well as you might expect.

Buhari dissociates self from social media bill, say’s he’s committed to free speech

President Buhari has made it clear to Senators that he will not assent to the Social Media Bill being pushed forward by the senate. President Buhari made his position known through his Senior Special Assistant to Media and publicity Shehu Garba. He said the principle of the bill was inconsistent with democratic ideals of free speech enshrined in the Nigerian constitution, stressing that he had sworn while coming into office to uphold the dictates of the constitution. The official synopsis says; Nigeria made same-sex marriage and gay rights activism illegal last January. Since then, gay Nigerians say abuse and extortion have become commonplace by state-sponsored vigilantes, police and public mobs.
