Nigeria defeat Niger in 2016 CHAN opener – Nigeria made a blistering start to the 2016 Cup of Home-Based African Nations, defeating Niger Republic 4-1 in their opening group match.
A 2-2 draw in the group’s first game between Tunisia and Guinea have given the home-based Eagles the chance to top their group with a win.
The first half had ended goalless, but began with at a bang as Osas Okoro converted a cross to give the Eagles the lead.
A 20-minute hat-trick from substitute Chisom Chikatara, punctuated by a goal from Niger’s Zakaria Adebayor, meant the game ended 4-1. Chikatara was honored for his performance with the Man of the Match award.
The result was a good one for Sunday Oliseh’s boys, who will no doubt look to come back from Rwanda with the cup.
