Jada Pinkett contemplates boycotting Oscars as host Chris Rock calls it the ‘White BET Awards’

Jada Pinkett Smith took to social media yesterday to express her frustration over the lack of diversity among this year's Oscar nominees. In a series of tweets, Jada, called out the fact that there was no black actor nominated in the top categories in this year's Oscars.. I.e her husband, Will Smith, who got a nomination for Best Actor, Drama for his new movie, Concussion at the Golden Globes. See what she tweeted after the cut

3 year old narrates how she was raped by a man she called ‘Uncle’ (watch)

From the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation. A 3 year old girl narrates how she was raped by a 30 year old neighbour in Elelenwo in Port Harcourt on December 28th, 2015. She was interviewed by a familiar face and she gave graphic details. Speaking, the girl's mother said she went to report the matter to the police station and they collected N3,500 from her to arrest the rapist and another N5,000 to take the matter to court. Photo: Obasanjo graduates from National Open University of Nigeria

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was awarded a Masters Degree (MA) in Christian Theology by the management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) at its fifth convocation ceremony held at its permanent site in Abuja today January 16th. He graduated with 4.25 Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) at Abeokuta Study Centre of the University. (more…)

Taiwan election: Tsai Ing-wen elected first female president

Taiwan’s ruling party has conceded defeat in the island's presidential elections as opposition leader Tsai Ing-wen has been elected the island’s first woman president. Ms Tsai, head of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) recorded more than 4,655,000 votes while Eric Chu of the ruling Nationalists or Kuomintang (KMT) had 2,614,000 votes.
