JOHNNY DEPP has commented publicly for the first time since news broke of his divorce from Amber Heard, via a statement released by his representative, saying he hopes that the dissolution of his marriage will be“resolved quickly”. The news that Depp’s wife of 15 months, Amber Heard, has filed for divorce broke yesterday, with ambiguity around whether a prenuptial agreement had been signed.
“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” a representative for the actor said in a statement sent to E! News. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.” It is unclear to which false stories the statement is referring.
This will be Depp’s second divorce. He separated from make-up artist Lori Anne Allison in 1985 after two years of marriage. Following subsequent engagements and rumoured engagements to Juliette Lewis, Kate Moss and Winona Ryder, Depp was in a relationship with Vanessa Paradis – with whom he has a daughter Lily-Rose and a son Jack – for 14 years. The couple never married, and announced their split in 2012. He became engaged to Heard on Christmas Eve 2014 and they were married in February 2015.
Heard, meanwhile, was in a three-year relationship with girlfriend Tasya van Ree until 2011.
