Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu was today honored with a doctorate degree by the University of Professional Studies in Accra, Ghana. Congrats to him. The ceremony was atteneded by his family and the President of Ghana, John Mahama.

Scientists have predicted that unless radical improvements are made in the way we design computers, by 2040, computer chips will need more electricity than what our global energy production can deliver. The projection could mean that our ability to keep pace with Moore's Law – the idea that the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years – is about to slide out of our grasp. Notorious whistle-blower Edward Snowden has helped design an open-source smartphone device that warns people when their phone's antennae are transmitting information. The goal is to protect people from being digitally spied on by alerting them when their phone is sending or receiving data without their knowledge or permission. (more…)
Two Nigerian siblings, 11 and 10 are pictured crying after their mother died in the Mediterranean on their way to Europe. The two children were among 150 migrants rescued from their overcrowded rubber boat off the coast of Libya while trying to cross the Mediterranean ocean into Italy by a Spanish NGO’s boat.
