Beyonce attends the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden on August 28, 2016 in New York City.

Beyonce killed it!

Queen Bey walked the red carpet with several of the women featured in the “Lemonade” visual album — mothers of gun violence victims among them.

Then!  Midway through the show, Serena Williams! (groundbreaking!) introduced BeyoncĂ© for an unexpected performance of several of her “Lemonade” hits. The album scored BeyoncĂ© eight Moon Man trophies — including Video of the Year for “Formation.”

Thank goodness for Beyoncé.

Her electric performance of several songs from her album Lemonadesaved this year’s Video Music Awards broadcast. It may be just about the only thing they agree on.

Prior to Beyoncé’s appearance, deep into the broadcast, the show had been uncharacteristically dull.

When Beyoncé finished her performance at the 2016 VMAs, there was no question as to who the biggest pop star on the planet is. Not that there was ever any doubt.

Bey’s performance was powerful — an artistic musing on violence that, like her album, also showcase her showmanship and untouchable talent as an artist.

She opened up with “Pray You Catch Me,” a somber, eerie opening that included women next to her dropping dead and a boy in a hoodie — an echo of Trayvon Martin — wrapping his arms around her. It was a searing visual.
