Minister of Sports and Youth Development  Solomon Dalung has apologized to the U23 football team representing Nigeria in the 2016 Olympics and others. The apology was for the initial delay of the football team in Atlanta, after they were stranded before their first Rio 2016 match, due to plane issues.

Dalung who is currently in Rio, exchanged pleasantries with players, officials and said:

“I want to apologize for all the circumstances that led to your late arrival here. I apologize because I am the head and as such I must take responsibility for anything that happens under my watch.

“Nigeria’s football team in the early hours of today defeated Sweden (1-0) and qualified for the quarterfinals of the Olympic games football event.
