The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has ended its one-week warning strike.
According to PUNCH, Biodun Ogunyemi, president of the union ASUU, disclosed this to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday.
Ogunyemi said the intervention of the senate was yielding results.
“We are making progress, especially with the intervention of the senate,” he said.
“In the next one or two meetings, if we are able to get a clear path to the matter, we will avoid elongation of the strike action.
“I have been receiving these reports that ASUU say strike continues. No. The strike ends today (Tuesday). All lecturers are to go back to work Wednesday morning.”
Some of the demands,which the union is making are: payments of staff entitlements since December 2015, funding of universities for revitalisation, pension, TSA and university autonomy and renegotiation of 2009 agreement.
