Pokémon GO, Niantic announced today that the app is now available on the Apple Watch. The new smartwatch version is scaled back to fit the smaller user interface and thus will not allow trainers to catch the creatures — an alert from the watch notifies you when you are close to a Pokémon and then you have to pull out a phone in order to catch it.
Catching feature excluded, players will be available to access many of the functions the smartphone app possesses, like picking up items from PokéStops, collecting in-game Pokémon candy, and locating nearby Pokémon. In addition, each session can be logged as a workout where gameplay counts toward personal Activity rings; notifications for medals awarded and eggs hatching are available as well.
Smartwatch enthusiasts, let us know how you plan to use the new app.
