Student Innovators and Startups can win $10,000 in the Ericsson Innovation Awards 2016

Ericsson has opened the registration portal for the 2016 sub-Saharan Africa Innovation Awards. This year’s call for entries is targeted at student innovators and startups from across the region to enter the regional contest to win $10,000. The goal for the 2016 sub-Saharan Africa Innovation Awards is to find innovations that promote sustainability in the future of food, whether it be in food production, packaging, information availability or distribution. No Phone? Nokia D1C might be an Android tablet after all

Oh no! If you’ve been waiting for a new Nokia Android smartphone, whether out of loyalty or out of curiosity, you might have to wait a bit longer. The Nokia D1C, believed to be the company’s first smartphone after selling its mobile business to Microsoft, might not actually be a smartphone. According to a Geekbench entry, it is going to be a rather large 13.8-inch Android 7.0 tablet instead. And while it confirms specs we’ve heard of so far, this combination actually makes even less sense. (more…)

Fisrt Photos of some of the 21 released Chibok girls

Photos obtained exclusively by CNN show some of the 21 girls who were released by Boko Haram to the military today. The 21 are said to be among the 276 girls that Boko Haram militants kidnapped in April 2014. The rescued girls are now on their way to Abuja where they would be received by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Another photo after the cut. (more…)
