Baghunter, a website dedicated to luxury online retail, did a study comparing gold, the S&P 500 (an American stock market index), and the Hermès Birkin bag over the past 35 years. The shocker? The pricy Hermès bag favored by celebrities, which comes with a years-long waiting list, increased in value at an average of 14.2 percent a year. Hours after court orders Tompolo’s arrest, militants blow up oil facilities in Delta state

Hours after a court ordered the arrest of a former Niger Delta warlord, Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, some Niger Delta militants this morning blew up strategic oil pipelines in Warri South West local government area in Delta state. The militants in other coordinated attacks, blew up oil pipelines between Ikpokpo and Odidi flow stations, mostly in Gbaramatu kingdom. Residents of the area say the attacks started shortly before midnight and lasted till the early hours of Friday morning. Most of them have fled their homes for fear of a gun battle between the militants

Guardian burns boy’s body with iron (Photos)

A trader simply identified as Mama Sarah has been accused of maltreating a boy in her custody. Twelve-year-old Michael Maduagu, a victim of domestic violence, was allegedly “severely assaulted” by his guardian. The Nation learnt that Mama Sarah, a cleaner with Nigerian Naval Dockyard, usually descends on the boy.She beat up the boy last Sunday, placed a hot iron on his leg and made incisions on his body with a blade. Father repeatedly bites his baby son to ‘stop him from becoming gay’ (Photo)

A father is being investigated over claims he repeatedly bit his son in order to toughen him up and 'stop him becoming gay'.  His actions were discovered when the boy's mother spotted her son's injuries after returning home, leading to an inquiry from social workers. The unnamed woman said she asked her partner what happened, and he simply laughed as he explained that he had bitten the boy to 'make him more of a man'.  It occurred in their home in the neighbourhood of Quiroga, in the Colombian capital Bogota.
