Court denies FG power to seize MTN’s funds in Nigerian banks

Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos has denied the Federal Government powers to seize all funds owned by MTN Nigeria Communications Limited in Nigerian banks, pending when the telecommunication company pays up the N1.4 trillion fine leveled against it by the NCC over its failure to deactivate unregistered sim cards. The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), through his counsel, Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN), had in a motion filed before the court, expressed fears of MTN moving all its funds in Nigeria, since it was in their habit

Wizkid is going on a World Tour – Get the Scoop!

Music star Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun has announced that he will be kicking off his World Tour soon. According to the 25-year-old pop star, the tour will start off in Amsterdam and more details will unfold as times goes on. In a post shared on Instagram, he also mentioned that his highly-anticipated EP will be ready soon but first things first – Wizkid is taking his first holiday in the last 3 years. BIAFRA passport valid – MASSOB

Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra, MASSOB, has said that Biafran passports being issued to its citizens are valid and accepted in various countries across the globe. It insisted that many citizens of Biafra had used the passport issued by the Biafran Directorate of Passport, and travelled overseas without hitches. In an interview with Vanguard, MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Sunny Okereafor, warned the federal government to stop seizing Biafra passport or threatening its holders. Baby dies in Lekki inferno after mum locks door

A seven-month-old baby was burnt to death in a fire incident in the Ikota Housing Estate, in the Lekki area of Lagos,after she was locked up in the room by the mother, who was cooking in the kitchen. Her mother was said to have left the kitchen for somewhere else, when the fire broke out. Residents were said to have called officials of the Lagos State Fire Service.But it was too late as the building had been razed down, while the child was burnt to death. A witness said.... (more…)
