2016 was a year of breaking records for Drake. Most recently, he tied Lil Wayne’s record for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries of any solo artist, but he also became the first person to record 1 billion streams for a song as well as an album. Aubrey’s impressive streak continues into 2017 as it was just announced that his Summer Sixteen Tour with Atlanta rapper Future became the highest grossing hip-hop/rap tour ever, tallying nearly $85 million USD over 54 shows between July and October. This figure would be much higher if it wasn’t for Drake having to cancel some shows due to an ankle injury.
The Toronto entertainer topples Jay Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne Tour, which pulled in $75 million USD from October 2011 to June 2012.
Drake will take his tour overseas next month, renaming it the Boy Meets World Tour, with its first stop in Amsterdam on January 21.
