Much is ongoing with the First ever African festival of classical music among Nigerian universities tagged ‘Campus Classicals’; what is however news is the surge in appeal among stakeholders. Progress reports from the event’s Project Director (Hyacinth Aniemeke) confirmed that all participating universities are fully ready for the event.
The official media unveiling of the event is fixed for June 3, 2016 in Lagos; expected attendees include captains of industries, government dignitaries, student representatives, entertainment celebrities, the media, lovers of music and music educators among others. Ben Ogbeiwi the project’s Technical Head also mentioned that the national technical committee meeting on Campus Classicals, which is set to host HODs of music from the various participating universities is also planned to hold in Lagos on Wednesday, 4th of May 2016.
Nigerians should brace up for electrifying musical performances during the 5 days event. However, Hyacinth Aniemeke has further stressed the need for proactive multinationals and corporations to sign up as sponsors as a way of supporting the growth of education/classical music in Nigeria.
