What we know so far:
- Terrorists killed at least 129 people in a series of apparently coordinated attacks across Paris involving gunfire and explosives.
- Seven assailants were killed, with some dying after detonating bombs, officials said Saturday. Earlier, officials said eight attackers had been killed.
- The terrorist attacks were an “act of war” by ISIS, French President François Hollande said.
- ISIS has claimed responsibility, releasing statements in both Arabic and French.
- More than 350 people were injured in the attacks, with at least 99 of them in a critical condition.
- At least six locations were attacked, including the Bataclan Concert Hall, the Le Petit Cambodge restaurant, Le Carillon bar, La Casa Nostra restaurant, La Belle Equipe bar, and the Stade de France stadium.
- More than 100 people were taken hostage in the concert hall before French special forces laid siege to the venue.
- President Hollande has closed the nation’s borders and declared a state of emergency. He also empowered authorities to place people under house arrest if their activity was deemed dangerous.
- 1,500 additional soldiers were sent to Paris.
- The U.S. embassy in Paris says Americans are among the injured and U.K. PM David Cameron said it is likely British citizens will be among the victims.
- The attacks are some of the most deadly in decades. They come months after 12 were killed at the Charlie Hebdo magazine offices in Paris earlier this year.
