Binyavanga Wainaina

I for one do not like the cover above but according to reliable reports, Kenyan writer, Binyavanga Wainaina, suffered a severe stroke few weeks ago and he is in critical condition. About $45,000 is urgently needed for his treatment abroad, India, to be precise. ( You know too well that medical facilities in Africa are brutally fucked up, the leaders have diverted the funds into their personal accounts overseas).

In this light, Sabi News, Vee Global Concepts in partnership with Freedom Park, are organising a fundraiser on Saturday, 28 November 2015, time; 12pm prompt, Venue; The Members’ Lounge, Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos.

Also billed for the event; readings, art auction/ sales of works by Victor Ehikhameno

The organisers will also set up Ake Arts and Book Festival’s bookstore at the venue and 20% of the proceeds from book sales goes to Binyavanga’s Medical Fund.

Kitchen Butterfly will also be selling some of her culinary wonders at the venue and Sabi News will cover the event.
