No budget is missing, Senate chairman
Read the statement below... Chairman, Senate Committee on Media And Public Affairs, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi has said that no statement made by any Senator during the plenary today can be interpreted to mean an admission that the 2016 budget is missing. He said there is no budget missing and that the Senate will tomorrow (Thursday) distribute copies of the budget to all the Senators so as to arm them to properly contribute to the debate which will take place between Tuesday. World’s oldest man aged 131 discovered in Brazil (Photos)
A man thought to be the world's oldest man has been discovered by civil servants in Brazil.They say they discovered the 131-year-old dad-of-three living with a wife 69 years his junior. The Guinness Book of Records recognises 112-year-old Yasutaro Koide from Japan as the oldest person alive. And Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who died aged 122 in 1997, holds the record for the world’s longest living person. Three Dead After Avalanche Hits Schoolchildren Skiing In French Alps
At least three people have been killed after an avalanche struck a group of schoolchildren skiing Wednesday in a French Alps resort. According to French officials, a group of 10 high school–age children and their teacher, as well as a Ukrainian man not part of the group, were skiing on a closed run in the Deux Alpes ski resort when they were hit by the wall of snow. Two students, as well as the Ukrainian man, are confirmed to have died in the avalanche, according to officials in the Isère prefecture. Al Jazeera America Is Shutting Down
The Al Jazeera America cable news channel will shut down at the end of April, the network announced Wednesday, capping a two-and-a-half-year struggle to find an audience amid extremely low ratings. “The economic landscape of the media environment has driven [Al Jazeera America’s] strategic decision to wind down its operations and conclude its service,” the network said in a statement. The move to shutter the cable news network was announced in a memo to staff by Al Jazeera America CEO Al Anstey that was obtained by the New York Times. (more…)
