The court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of the state Governor Emmanuel Udom. The five-man jury this afternoon upheld the petition of the APC candidate in the April 11th election Umana Umana who argued that the election of Governor Udom of the People’s Democratic Party did not conform to the electoral act. The court ordered a fresh election to be conducted within 90 days.

Nobel laureate, late Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who dedicated her life to helping the poor, will be made a saint of the Roman Catholic Church in September 2016 after the Catholic Pope recognized her for her intercessory role in the cure of a man with multiple brain tumours. Mother Teresa, who died in 1997 at the age of 87 and was known as the "saint of the gutters", is expected to be canonised in early September 2016. Adidas and Parley for the Oceans, an organisation dedicated to reducing plastic waste in oceans, have collaborated to create a 3D-printed shoe made out of recycled ocean plastic. The shoe is just a prototype, but the goal is to demonstrate how the industry can "rethink design and help stop ocean plastic pollution," according to Adidas. The prototype has an 'upper' made of ocean plastic and a 3D-printed midsole of recycled polyester and gillnets, a type of fishing net. (more…)
