MTV Base Africa VJ Stephanie Coker has announced that she has indeed left the station after serving as a VJ/host for four years. During her time on the station she worked on programmes like ‘Street Request’, ‘The Big Friday Show’ among others. She also acted as a host on various shows and awards ceremonies. The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Thursday declared Liberia Ebola-free. The epidemic is over two-and-half years since it broke out in West Africa. In a statement in Cape Town, South Africa, WHO remarked that the declaration on Liberia came nine days after it announced that neighbouring Guinea, where the epidemic broke out in December, 2013 was also free of it. Despite the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tribunal handing Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova a two-year ban from the sport for failing a drugs test, Sportswear giant Nike have decided to stand by her and have renewed their deal with Sharapova. An ITF statement yesterday concluded Sharapova didn't intentionally violate doping regulations by taking meldonium - the illegal drug she tested positive for - and Nike used that as their justification to resume their sponsorship deal with Sharapova, which they suspended in March when news of her failed drugs test emerged
Gov. Shettima of Borno State on Wednesday inspected 20 out of the 106 trucks of foodstuffs which was donated by Alh. Aliko Dangote through his foundation, the Dangote Foundation. The items which started arriving Maiduguri some few days ago include Rice, Sugar, Flour, Semolina, noodles and many others. The remaining 86 trucks are expected to arrive the state very soon. (more…)
