President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to sack and prosecute any of his 36 ministers found culpable of any act of corruption. Nigeria unveils Africa’s largest statue of Jesus

A Nigerian businessman is set to unveil what he says is Africa’s largest statue of Jesus, describing it as a symbol of peace in a country wracked by insurgency. Obinna Onuoha commissioned the 8.53 metre (28 foot) tall “Jesus de Greatest” statue in 2013, hiring a Chinese company to carve it out of white marble. Lai Mohammed say troops have largely met the december deadline to end insurgency

Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed says Nigerian troops have largely met the December deadline given by President Buhari to end insurgency in Nigeria. He said this at a meeting with editors in Lagos yesterday December 30th. “In a few days, the deadline issued by President Muhammadu Buhari to the military to defeat Boko Haram will expire. Without equivocating, I will repeat what I said that has sparked a firestorm: Our gallant military has largely met the deadline! Muslims on hijab: Ban cell phones, handbags too!

President Muhammadu should ban vehicles, handbags, cell phones, motorcycles and suits instead of the hijab, the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos state area unit, has said. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has also questioned why army and police uniforms have not been banned despite being used by bandits. Many bombings have been carried out by Boko Haram fighters wearing hijab, most of them female.
