Downey Jr. pardoned for crime he committed 19 years after

Robert Downey Jr has been pardoned for the drugs and weapon offences for which he was convicted in the mid-1990s on Thursday. California governor Jerry Brown signed the 50-year-old’s plea for pardon on evidence “that since his release from custody he has lived an honest and upright life, exhibited good moral character and conducted himself as a law-abiding citizen”. The then 31-year-old Downey Jr was arrested on narcotics charge in 1996, he passed out in a neighbour’s bedroom which he mistook for his apartment in Malibu. (more…)

Police men who drove one way and killed UNIPORT student have been arrested

According to LIB:    The police officers who took one way and knocked down a University of Port Harcourt Mechanical Engineering student Edah Oghenekevwe Richard (Read story here), have been identified and arrested by the Rivers state Police command. The deceased was on his way back from Church and standing along Assemblies of God Church junction in Alakahia, PH, when he was hit by the Police Van. The state police command is conducting further investigation into the matter and if the officers are found guilty, they will be taken to court.

Refineries ‘to produce 10m litres of PETROL daily’

Nigerian refineries have been “repositioned” to produce 10 million litres of premium motor spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, daily, Ibe Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum resources, has said. It is estimated that Nigeria consumes 35 million litres daily, which means the country will now be importing only 25 million litres to meet local needs. Although he did not give the total figure of what the refineries are currently producing, Kachikwu said a lot of work has been done to put them back in shape.
