LOWEST EVER: Naira trades at 276/$1

The worst days for the Nigerian currency, naira, may just be ahead as the naira broke its 42-year record on Thursday, trading at 276 against the dollar at the parallel market. “We are currently selling at 276 to the dollar,” a trader told TheCable in Lagos on Thursday. Naira traded between 265 and 269 on Wednesday as traders anticipate the “end of forex street trading” in two weeks time. Dokpesi calls for prison reforms after his stay in Kuje prison

Raymond Dokpesi has called for a national prison reform. This comes after his stay in the Kuje prison where he was remanded until he met his N200m bail condition. After his release yesterday, Dokpesi attended the AIT Christmas party where he charged the management of his TV station to make Prison reforms a burning issue. He described the situation of things in the prison as appalling.  Finally, change is coming, with more scapegoats we will soon start seeing the difference. (more…)
