Nigerians are record breakers and title holders! 36yr old Nigerian man, Wellington Jighere won the World Scrabble championship held in Perth, Australia. Wellington, from Delta state defeated Lewis Mackay of Cambridge, England, by 448 points to 426 to win the championship which was competed for by 450 players from around the world. President Buhari skyped with the Golden Eaglets to encourage them ahead of their match with Mali in the U17 Wold Cup finale which holds in Chile today. President Buhari actually named the U17 team, the Golden Eaglets when he was in power in 1985.
Godwin! The Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja today decided that Hajia Aisha Alhassan, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate of the April 11 gubernatorial polls in the state was the rightful winner of the election. The Tribunal in its judgement directed that Alhassan be sworn in as the governor of the Taraba state. She is the first elected female governor in Nigerian history.
Aliko Dangote who is the owner of Dangote Group was at the weekend, rated among the 100 most powerful people in the world by Forbes Magazine. Aliko Dangote ranks as #71 most Powerful People in 2015. He was #68 in 2014. He also ranks as #67 Billionaires in the world 2015. He is #1 in Nigeria and #1 Africa's 50 Richest (2014). President of Egypt, Abdel el-Sisi, is the only other African listed apart from Dangote and he was placed at number 49. Aliko Dangote and US President Obama are the only black people on the list.
