New Ebola case emerges in Sierra Leone AGAIN!

Health officials in Sierra Leone have confirmed a death from Ebola, hours after the World Health Organization declared the West Africa outbreak over. The country was declared free of the virus on 7 November, and the region as a whole cleared when Liberia was pronounced Ebola-free on Thursday. But two tests conducted on a boy who died in northern Sierra Leone proved positive for the virus, a health ministry spokesman told the BBC. (more…)

Oya Shoki! Sierra Leone declared Ebola free

 NO MORE EBOLA! Following 42 days with no new cases, Sierra Leone was officially declared Ebola free by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Saturday, November 7, at a ceremony attended by President Ernest Bai Koroma and (WHO) representative Anders Nordstrom.  "We now have a unique opportunity to support Sierra Leone to build a strong and resilient public health system ready to detect and respond to the next outbreak of disease or any other public health threat," Nordstrom said at the ceremony. The first case of sexually transmitted Ebola has been confirmed

  Genetic tests have confirmed that a Liberian woman contracted Ebola in March after having sex with a survivor of the disease. Even though it was known that Ebola could survive in semen for weeks after a patient's symptoms had cleared up, this is the first time it's been confirmed that the disease can be transmitted sexually - and it also show that the virus can persist in bodily fluids a lot longer than we ever suspected. The couple in question had unprotected sex six months after the man was first infected with Ebola, and 155 days after a blood test declared

10 people quarantined as patient dies of suspected Ebola disease symptoms in Calabar

This doesn't calls for alarm the news is still being verified. 10 persons have been quarantined in Calabar, Cross River state after a patient at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH died of symptoms of the deadly disease yesterday October 7th. At a press conference this evening, the Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr. Queeneth Kalu, made the revelation and said necessary steps have been taken to contain the spread of the suspected viral disease.
