Tor Tiv dies at 71
The chairman of the Benue Traditional Council and the Paramount Ruler of the Tiv, the Tor Tiv, Alfred Torkula, has passed on. The Tor Tiv, who was installed as the fourth Tor Tiv in April 1991, died on Monday in a private hospital in Gboko, the traditional seat of his throne. The Tor Tiv was aged 71 years. Confirming the death on Tuesday in Makurdi, Governor Samuel Ortom, said he had already paid his condolences to the deceased family. (more…)
