Neymar's parents deny tax evasion: Barca star's assets frozen

A court in Brazil has frozen the assets belonging to Barcelona superstar, Neymar and the assets frozen are believed to be worth about 33 million Euros.

According to the charges filed against the Brazilian forward, Neymar evaded over 10 million Euros in taxes in Brazil. The documentation of the case, presided over by Judge Carlos Muta, states Neymar is “solely responsible for his income declaration”. The document further claims the player only declared assets worth 19.6 million reals (3.2 million Euros). The former Santos man was actually worth an excess of 80 million reals. Property, including cars, houses and artworks were seized from Neymar. The assets of three companies which the Brazilian is the principal owner of were also seized.

The freezing of the assets will however not stop Neymar from being able to access funds that are liquid (i.e. the money in the bank). Neymar’s camp is yet to comment about the situation.
