Gustavo Dudamel once said that, “It’s not that people don’t like classical music. It’s that they don’t have the chance to understand and to experience it”.  That is why we are grateful to Classical Showcase Limited for organizing the first ever Campus Classicals Music Contest.

It was all excitement on Monday 18 January, 2016, at the head office of Classical Showcase Limited, organizers of the Campus Classicals as the Former Nigerian Envoy to the Philippines,  Ambassador Yemi Farounbi paid a courtesy visit to the management team of the company.

Clad in all cream color native apparel, the immaculate white bearded august visitor commended the management team of Campus classicals for choosing to promote classical music in Nigeria. Offering his full support for the project-campus classicals, Ambassador Farounbi promised to do his best for the event to come to reality. According to him “the choice of classical music as an area of interest for the company is highly commendable. Classical music has a very rich ethical and moral values which cannot be neglected by the Nigerian society”. Continuing, the ambassador said “I am more fascinated noting that young people are behind this great idea. I will join you to ensure that this succeeds. It is a pride to be part of this event. I will also help you canvass for more support so that this project is brought to the consciousness of every Nigerian”.  Earlier, the Managing Director, Mr. Sylvester Obriko welcomed the visitor and appreciated his (Ambassador) personal interest in Campus Classicals. He solicited support from the visitor. “We are pleased to have you here out of your very tight schedule. Our joy knows no bound. Your visit is an indication that our project is in the right direction. We therefore use this rare privilege to ask for your full support in this project which is to encourage school music in Nigeria” Mr. Obriko said.

Shedding more light on the reason for the choice of classical music as the company’s area of interest, the GM who doubles as the project (campus classicals) director, Mr. Hyacinth Aniemeke said that classical music through campus classicals is the reorientation of the culture of the mind in the sphere of economic and ethical values. He also asserts that classical music works on three aspect of human development which are, the mind, emotion and physical. He also said the event will help to highlight the intellectuality, essence and values of the Nigerian cultural music.

Campus classicals is an all Nigerian universities Classical music festival. The festival is in the nature of competition among participating universities with N5m for grabs.

Others on ground to receive the visitor were, the Marketing manager, Mr. Olumide Adekunbi, the Admin Manager, Mrs. Juliet Obi-Eze and the Finance Manager, Mrs. Ijeoma Nosike-Amolo.
