Obasanjo’s son, 11 others promoted in Jos

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s son, Adebayo, 11 other senior military officers at the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, were, Monday, decorated with their new ranks after the Army Council’s approval of 226 for the nationwide exercise.

Also, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division, Major General Peter Dauke whose ceremonial decoration was done in Abuja, last week, was introduced to his officer and men with his new rank at the military formation’s headquarters in Jos.

Colone lObasanjo was promoted from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, two years after he was rushed back from the battlefront where he sustained serious injuries engaging with Boko Haram in Adamawa State.

The investiture took place before the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General TukurBurati, who was represented by Major General Nicholas Ibe Rogers, the commander of the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a peace operation stationed in Plateau and parts of Bauchi states.

Six senior offers wore the new rank of Brigadier General, the senior among whom is Brigadier General Ibrahim Dogara Yusuf, whose appointment has been due since2014.

The other six were promoted to the rank of colonel, among whom is Adebayo Obasanjo.

This promotion is coming three years after the decoration of 102 officers by the administration of former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

The COAS told the newly promoted officers to consider their new ranks as a new level of commitment to the ideal of the Nigerian military, and to remain loyal to the system.

This is just as the GOC, Major General Dauke charged them to show more loyalty and dedication to the service.

The most senior officer, Brigadier General Yusuf said the promotion is the start ofa new journey to earn the next promotion by the officers.
