DSS OFFICER SHOOTS INNOCENT UNIVERSITY OF JOS STUDENT

What is going on in Nigeria ?  Too many educated illiterate are out there....  Hezekiah Paul, a student of University of Jos was shot dead yesterday by an agent of the Department of State Security. Hezekiah was on a three months Industrial attachment in a shop on Ahmadu Bello Way of Jos when was shot dead by the officer. The officer and some others had come to arrest one John Dan whose offence has not been disclosed. On sighting the gun wielding DSS officers, Paul out of fear and apprehension attempted to run but a DSS official chased him and shot him at close range.

Medical Students In Nigeria to Spend 11 Years in University – NUC

Medical students in Nigeria have been mandated by the National Universities Commission to spend eleven years in the university. According to the Punch, this mandate was made during the lecture “Development of Medical Education: Prospects and Challenges”, presented by Professor Chiedu Mafiana on behalf of the commission’s Executive Secretary Professor Julius Okojie at the maiden matriculation and inauguration of the University of Medical Science, Ondo State. Pope Francis to declare Mother Teresa a Saint on September 4th

Pope Francis will on September 4th this year declare Mother Teresa of Kolkata a Saint. Mother Theresa who is affectionately known as the "saint of the gutter" for her unconditional ‎love ‎for the poor, abandoned and marginalized, was beatified in 2003 by Pope John Paul II after being attributed to a first miracle, answering an Indian woman's prayers to cure her brain tumor, according to the Vatican. Senate Rejects Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill at Second Reading | Nigerian Twitter Reacts in Outrage

A Bill aimed at elimination of discrimination against women has been turned down for a second reading at the Nigerian Senate today. This was made known via the Nigerian Senate official Twitter account and the issue has caused quite a reaction from Nigerians on Twitter who feel that the Bill was long overdue. The Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill was aimed at promoting equality, development and advancement of all persons in Nigeria as well as promoting women’s freedom of movement, female economic activity and girls’ access to education. British-Nigerian actor John Boyega delivers toys to sick children at UK hospital

British-born Nigerian Star Wars actor, John Boyega, 24, delivered toys to sick children at the Royal London Hospital. Among the children he visited was Daniel Bell, from Ormskirk. 5-year-old Daniel who has been living with a brain tumour said he wished he could hand out presents to children alongside his favourite film character.
